Pillar Point RV Park, Half Moon Bay

Two new explorations today!

First we pulled off the road in Santa Cruz and decided to go see the harbor since we had never been there.   Don't know why it took us forever to find it, we seemed to be driving in circles.   We were very surprised to find that it's a huge harbor,  on par with Ventura Harbor.

After meandering up the coast we were ready for a coffee and saw a sign for Pescadero.  We decided to check it out.   What a big treat!

We ordered a deli sandwich and bought some extras for dinner. As we left the store, one of the workers came up to us and gave us a loaf of bread. He obviously heard us ranting and raving about the store when we were in it. What a lovely surprise.



We were hoping to be able to get into this campground. It is only first come, first serve and when we checked the website there were sites available so we hoped we could get here before they were taken. Got caught in a major backup because of tree trimming.

We are thrilled that we got one of the front ocean view sites!  Will probably stay here another night.  





The walkway in front is a 6 mile walk.  The village of El Granada is half a mile away and there are 19 restaurants within walking distance.  Great spot to be!!

A day of exploring Pacific Grove.  A new spot that we haven't known before even after coming here for 40 years ...  The Kissing Rock The waves were abnormally high today with an expectation of 13 to 17 feet which made driving along the coast quite interesting. Butterfly Grove Inn, Pacific Grove

More new experiences today starting with a drive through Elkhorn Slough.  This is " 7-mile-long tidal slough and estuary on Monterey Bay in Monterey County, California. It is California's second largest estuary and the United States' first estuarine sanctuary." An interesting road to get through the Slough!  The photos below were taken through the window.  Then it was on to Moss Landing Harbor.   This is huge!   By accident we discovered there is a campground in the harbor and it looks pretty good.  If we had known about this yesterday we would have stayed there instead and been happier.  The coastline as we got close to Monterey, as we're flying by at 60 mph. A stop at Monterey Harbor for a walk around, lunch and Norm checking out a boat for sale.  Boy, did we luck out with this hotel!  We're thrilled and will stay here another night and do some exploring.   It's been many years since we were here.  We used to come u...
