Well, we never intended to go to the coast but yesterday after we checked in there was a red flag warning issued for last night through Monday night for this area. When I looked up "red flag warning" it told me what that meant extreme fire risk so I was pretty nervous and didn't sleep all night just thinking about how here we are in the middle of the forest and one little 2 lane road going in-and-out.
So we came to Jenner on the coast and booked a room. Since we couldn't check in until 3 pm we drove up the road a couple of miles, pulled into the Wildlands Preserve and cooked our breakfast in the parking lot.

Then we drove to Guernville, walked the quaint downtown and had lunch. This is quite the interesting place.

Very pleased with our cabin right on the water. It got quite warm today - 86 degrees - not great for us but we managed anyway.
